The LA Chargers could turn to free agency to help fill in the gap for Mike Williams.

While injuries such as this continue to leave a very bad taste in the mouths of LA Chargers fans everywhere, the case is simply that they are something that must be dealt with whether it is in-house or via an outside acquisition.

Given that we are only a few days away from September, the free-agent market is as empty as it could possibly get at just about every position, wide receiver included. Along with that, trading will be quite a confusing process with our current COVID-19 scenario for the upcoming season.

Teams also would like to at least see what they’re working with at the start of the season, and likely will not make any noteworthy trades so close to the official start of the season.

With that said, there are still some free-agent wide receivers who could step in and make an impact while Mike Williams gets back to full health. They are not in any sense expected to fill his shoes completely, but coming in and helping to create a stronger wide receiver room while he is gone could be extremely impactful for an LA Chargers team loaded with talent elsewhere.

Do the LA Chargers go with a speedster who can take the top off of the defense, another 50/50 specialist who can make contested catches, or do they go with another crisp route runner to put alongside Keenan Allen? Here are three free-agent wide receivers who the Chargers should consider signing in Mike Williams’ absence.
