4. Tyrod Taylor

It seems weird to say (because Tyrod Taylor was talked about so much during the offseason) but now that camp has arrived, Taylor is not getting the chatter that he deserves. Instead, the focus has been on the new guy in the room, Justin Herbert, who has already been the recipient of two Hard Knocks slow-motion throwing montages.

It is understandable why there is a lot of attention going to Herbert. He is the new guy in town and was the sixth overall pick at that. He is the future of the team at the quarterback position.

That does not mean that we should overlook the present at the quarterback position, which is undoubtedly going to be Tyrod Taylor. Taylor has looked pretty solid at training camp thus far and has gotten some favorable quotes that should be paid attention to.

Mike Pouncey said that Taylor is the first guy in and the last guy out and gets a lot of respect in the locker room. Taylor is working hard, he is not only working to win games in 2020, but to maximize his next contract.

There are some clips on Twitter where Tyrod looks really good. This one of him blowing past the defense into the endzone shows exactly what he is capable of with his legs.

I get that it is exciting to look towards the future with Herbert, I am guilty of it myself. But let’s not look past the guy that is leading the huddle right now.
