With the start of training camp comes the unfortunate inevitable: roster cuts. Which notable LA Chargers could be in trouble?

The LA Chargers, along with the rest of the NFL, have finally started training camp. What felt like the longest offseason ever is officially over. The team was one of three to not have a single player opt-out due to the COVID pandemic, which is a really good sign that the team is taking the virus protocols very seriously.

Head coach Anthony Lynn and Joey Bosa each said they feel like the most responsible teams are going to be in good shape this season, and the Chargers are off to a good start in that regard.

The tough part of training camp is always seeing the various cuts that have to occur before the season and inevitably, the team is going to have to cut more players before the week one matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thankfully, they only had to cut six players last week, but it was a bit of a surprise when the team announced they were cutting Andre Patton, someone many Chargers reporters thought would compete for the third spot on the wide receiver depth chart.

Ultimately, the team must have seen enough good things from rookies Joe Reed and K.J. Hill that they felt comfortable enough moving on from Patton.

I think it’s safe to say that most of the cuts that will occur from here on out should not be a surprise. In the world of COVID and a lack of offseason, I expect most of the veteran players to be kept around, but there are a few players that could have a chance at getting cut.

For my own sanity, I will not include Denzel Perryman who has been a constant speculatory cut for the last two years now.
