Most intriguing x-factors on the LA Chargers: TE Donald Parham

The LA Chargers made two XFL signings this offseason in tight end Donald Parham and offensive tackle Storm Norton. On paper, the Chargers picked the perfect two players to sign from the XFL to make an impact in 2020.

Parham was the best tight end in the XFL through five weeks and had impressive receiving numbers while Norton was the highest-rated offensive tackle in the XFL through five weeks. The Bolts picked two good players.

I still think Norton is going to start as a depth tackle, though, and if he does slot into a starting role we know what we will get out of him. The more intriguing signing is Donald Parham, who has a lot of potential but is far from a guarantee.

Parham has all the traits to make a great pass-catching tight end. He is tall, he is really quick for a tight end and he has sure hands. At the very least he can be utilized as a red zone and short-yardage target because of his size and hands.

However, there is the potential that he blossoms into so much more than that and becomes a legitimate pass-catching threat in the offense. That will then raise the question of whether or not the team should re-sign Hunter Henry after the season.

Do you know who else was an under-the-radar tight end with size, speed and athleticism? Antonio Gates. While comparing Parham to Gates is criminal, it just goes to show that big things can happen.
