LA Chargers: Five bold player predictions for the 2020 season
Joe Gaziano makes the final roster.
The LA Chargers have a tradition of one or two undrafted guys usually cracking the team every year. In the coronavirus offseason, that might be unlikelier without a preseason and limited opportunities in general. However, Joe Gaziano strikes me as an interesting candidate to make the team.
The common answer here for some people might be Bobby Holly, as he presents something the Chargers might need at the fullback position. That could still happen, but Gaziano is an interesting choice for me personally. The Chargers have Uchenna Nwosu as Ingram’s backup. Gaziano strikes me as a guy who could effectively be Bosa’s backup.
Perhaps it’s not that important, but Bosa has missed games due to injury before. Reaffirming depth there wouldn’t be a bad idea in my opinion. Gaziano consistently got more tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks every year.
He may not have a future as a starter at the NFL level, but he can be a solid backup. Holly may be the most likely free agent to make the team, but I’ll say Gaziano could very well join him there.
Taylor looks to be in full command of the offense, and that will probably hold with Herbert’s diminished rookie offseason and lack of experience. Ekeler and Bosa will set new records that will define their 2020 seasons. Adderley, if healthy, will fit his way into the starting lineup throughout the season. At defensive end, Gaziano will make the team as a solid depth option.
