Sunday Night Football: @ New Orleans Saints

NFL fans are going to be seeing a lot of the New Orleans Saints on primetime, as they normally do, and one of the Saints’ primetime opponents should be the Los Angeles Chargers. Just on paper, the Saints are a good opponent for the Chargers to play on Sunday Night Football because of their current status in the league.

However, there is also a narrative that you can spin from this game, which is something that NBC loves to do. This very well could be the last time that Drew Brees gets to play the team that originally drafted him. It might seem like a reach, but it is a natural storyline that can be woven in.

This game is taking place in New Orleans and it is the first time since 2012 that the Bolts will be playing in the Big Easy. The freshness of the matchup alone is a good reason to put it on Sunday Night Football, as we seemingly get the same primetime matchups every single year.

The Chargers have not won in New Orleans since 1997 and this absolutely is the team’s toughest game of the year outside of the two Kansas City matchups. It is going to be fun to put Derwin James and the rest of the secondary in the bright lights to see how they match up against an elite receiver in Michael Thomas and one of the best quarterbacks to ever do it.

This game just screams Sunday Night Football, even if the Chargers’ record by the time they match up is not great.
