2016: Minnesota Vikings select WR Laquon Treadwell
Laquon Treadwell was an exciting receiving prospect coming out of the 2016 NFL Draft and the Minnesota Vikings had one of the best 1-2 receiver duos in the league over the last several seasons. Treadwell was not a part of that duo.
Treadwell never became a prominent part of the Minnesota Vikings’ offense with the main focus being on the running game and Adam Theilen and Stefon Diggs (who is now in Buffalo) and has had some lackluster seasons as a result.
Treadwell’s best season in terms of total receiving yards is 302 and he has only two receiving touchdowns in his four-year NFL career. He has been relatively active for the Vikings as well, missing seven games his rookie year, none his second year, one his third year and five his fourth year.
Like Diggs, Treadwell is no longer a member of the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings did not pick up the fifth year on his contract and Treadwell signed with the Atlanta Falcons, where he hopes to rejuvenate his career alongside Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Or, it very well could be another instance of Treadwell getting lost in the shuffle and his career could be the story of someone who had the potential to be great, but never quite figured it out.
