In the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the LA Chargers select: Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona State

The LA Chargers select yet another skill-position player in this best-case scenario mock draft and select running back Eno Benjamin out of Arizona State.

Even with Austin Ekeler’s new extension, the Chargers likely are looking for a third running back to play along with Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson with the departure of Melvin Gordon. The biggest narrative around this search is that the team needs a chance of pace back. This is not exactly that but would be great nonetheless.

Benjamin is a short, quick, shifty running back who thrives in the open field and is great as making tacklers miss. Benjamin is also a threat in the passing game as well and could be a legitimate threat for the Chargers in two running back sets.

Benjamin is not all that different from Austin Ekeler and he certainly is not someone who can plow through a pile of bodies or could take on the primary workload, but that is not what the Chargers need.

The Chargers get yet another weapon in an offense full of them that is going to either have a rookie in Tua or a veteran in Tyrod Taylor, who is not the best passer, but can manage the Chargers to a winning record.

I like Benjamin more than the other potential options because of his dual-threat capability and the fact that his playstyle is built for the Chargers’ offensive style.
