Tyrod Taylor is currently slated to be the LA Chargers starting quarterback in 2020, which is going to directly benefit two players on the roster.

The LA Chargers have moved on from Philip Rivers and with Tom Brady signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team appears to be ready to move on with Tyrod Taylor as the starting quarterback.

There has been some speculation about Cam Newton joining the team. While reports indicate that the Chargers are not interested in Newton, it would not be shocking to see the team sign him on a flyer is his price gets low to the point where it does not restrict other moves.

Newton does have the higher ceiling, that is undeniable, and even if it does not work out then the team has Taylor as the backup option.

Unless that happens, the most likely outcome from the offseason is that the Chargers draft a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft and have that quarterback sit for one season behind Taylor, who gets another shot at a starting job and also gets a chance to mentor the future.

While I have been on the record in the past of not being thrilled about Taylor being the starting quarterback, he does bring a different dynamic to the Chargers than we are used to — mostly in the fact that he can actually run out of the pocket and can extend plays.

There are flaws in Taylor’s game but there are strongpoints as well, and with his strongpoints in mind compared to that of what the Chargers had in Rivers, we can highlight two particular players that are going to benefit from him starting in LA.
