Chargers stat: 108 quarterback pressures allowed by offensive tackles

The Chargers had two tackles, Sam Tevi and Trent Scott, within the top 10 of most pressures allowed. On the season, Tevi, Scott, Russell Okung, and Trey Pipkins gave up 108 quarterback pressures. Only 20 of those were given up by Okung and Pipkins.

If there’s one position to fix Chargers fans can rally around it’s right tackle, and even improvements in depth on either side as well. It’s why some fans feel the team has to pass on a quarterback at No. 6 overall, as they feel no quarterback can thrive in this offense when the tackle position is both undermanned due to lack of talent and unstable due to Okung’s surprise medical issue and the uncertainty of starting a young Pipkins.

The Chargers need to improve in more areas than this, but these 10 stats seemed to be some of the more pressing issues. Not every one of these requires a player change; rather, simply a few key adjustments in the offseason and some personal growth or a rebound from a couple players. If the team can make some adjustments with draft picks or free agent signings, expect them to be back in playoff contention sooner than later.
