Los Angeles Chargers injury report and impact vs. Detroit Lions
By Tyler Gallagher
Chargers injuries continued
Geremy Davis, Wide Receiver – Questionable (Hamstring)
With Williams being injured, Geremy Davis’ injury becomes a bit more significant, as the Chargers will go into week two with only three fully healthy receivers.
Hopefully, Davis can play through the injury, but hamstring injuries tend to take quite a while to heal fully. Davis will be valuable as receiver depth and special teams help if available, so his status is worth monitoring during the game.
Hunter Henry, Tight End – Out (Knee Fracture)
In the first injury report following the week one game, it was revealed that Hunter Henry suffered a tibial fracture. While a four to six-week absence seems like great news in the wake of a broken bone, Henry’s loss is huge.
Henry would be perfectly suited to attack the Lions’ weakness in coverage in the middle of the field. Instead, the Chargers will likely opt to try to stretch out the Lions defense with speedster Travis Benjamin to create space in the middle of the field for the crisp route-running Keenan Allen.
Isaac Rochell, Defensive End – Questionable (Concussion)
Another injury that came as a bit of a surprise, Isaac Rochell may not be cleared to play come game time. The Chargers just waived Chris Peace to make room for Patton, so there is minimal depth at defensive end. It’s possible the Chargers just get creative on defense and use Uchenna Nwosu or even Jerry Tillery to rush from the outside.
