Chargers Fan Vote: Elite Eight

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (S) vs Dalton Risner (OT)

Winner: Risner (68 percent)

Along with Adderley, Risner has been one of the fan-favorite selections for the Chargers to take. Gardner-Johnson would be incredibly fun to watch when paired with Derwin James, but fans clearly want the team to go in the direction of a trench selection.

Dexter Lawrence (IDL) vs Kaleb McGary (OL)

Winner: Lawrence (66 percent)

Both picks may fall to the second round, but there’s no denying the first-round upside that a hulking presence like Lawrence can provide. Fans clearly are enticed with finding that plug in the middle of the defense, particularly one that can stop the run attack. Whether or not that will warrant a first round selection remains to be seen.

Deionte Thompson (S) vs Juan Thornhill (S)

Winner: Thompson (57 percent)

Thornhill might actually be the safer pick of the two, but fans clearly prefer to take a chance on Thompson. This was the closest of the four Elite Eight match ups, with both occupying the same position on defense. It’s unlikely either is the pick in the first round.

Nasir Adderley (S) vs Christian Wilkins (IDL)

Winner: Wikins (63 percent)

After winning ninety percent of the fan vote in the Sweet 16, Adderley face plants and falls way short in the face of Wilkins. Again, trench picks win the day, and Wilkins would be an absolute steal at No. 28.
