The dust has barely settled on the 2018 NFL season, but the bookies are already taking bets for the new season. The Los Angeles Chargers have the foundations for a winning record.

Chargers Among Early Favourites for Super Bowl LIV

It’s no surprise to learn that the New England Patriots are hot favorites to retain the Super Bowl. At the time of writing, the Los Angeles Chargers are a top-five favorite to win football’s most coveted prize, priced at 10/1 with 188bet.

Several bookies price the Bolts at 16/1, great odds for those who believe general manager Tom Telesco can sign the right players and make improvements to the roster ahead of the 2019 season.

Telesco, speaking on the Backstage Chargers podcast spoke positively about the Bolts’ chances in 2019. The GM heaped praise on Anthony Lynn‘s leadership and ability to get the best out of his players.

Chargers success in 2019 depends on several key areas

Telesco’s ability to upgrade the defense is crucial. Improving the offensive line is also a priority. Can Philip Rivers play to a consistent level in 2019? No.17 will need to if the Bolts have any hopes of emulating their 2018 regular season success.

The 2019 NFL Draft is the topic of conversation among writers and fans right now. Another quality first-round draft pick will be a welcome sight in the Chargers’ locker room.

Telesco has to figure out which free agents they should retain and who needs to be cut. Corey Liuget is the first major casualty of the postseason as he is looking for a new home in football.

Winning the AFC West will not be an easy task in 2019. Pragmatic recruitment and a healthy locker room will go some way to fending off the divisional challenge of the Kansas City Chiefs.

John Elway will have aspirations of his own for 2019. The Denver Broncos will be competitive in the new season. It would be unfair to omit the Oakland Raiders in the conversation. Jon Gruden will be influential in selecting the Raiders three first-round picks.

There’s plenty to look forward to between now and September. The combine will give scouts another opportunity to assess their draft prospects. Training camp will be an important milestone for the rookies.

It also gives Forrest Lamp the opportunity to reintegrate himself into the offensive line. The bookmakers fancy the Chargers to do well next season, now might be the time to place those bets.
