Los Angeles Chargers DE Joey Bosa gets back on the field and the defense is starting to look dominant again!

There is still a lot of work to be done. The defense lost a couple of key players with Corey Liuget and Denzel Perryman lost for the year. They may be out, but the team got back an elite player and he strutted his stuff last weekend against the Arizona Cardinals.

With Bosa getting a full week of work on defense, he finished his Sunday with a couple of sacks. It looks like the team is still limiting his reps and picking his time to get on the field, but Joey better be ready for a full game of work on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Bosa is off of the field in early downs, then I could see the Steelers looking to use a no huddle to keep Bosa off of the field. Why let one of the elite defensive ends onto the field, when you can keep him on the sideline by getting to the line quickly!

With Bosa on the field, he is able to hide some of the inconsistencies that we had shown and he forces quarterbacks off of their timing. Bosa also allowed the rest of his teammates to crumble the pocket on the quarterback.

With Bosa, the Chargers lined up Melvin Ingram next to him a couple of times and used twists to get offensive line to react quickly. On Bosa’s second sack, Melvin was lined up at tackle and Isaac Rochelle was getting pressure and was even held from the other end position.

Soon after Bosa’s first sack, Josh Rosen threw an interception to Derwin James. Bosa’s presence on the field will make the pass defense much better. The team found ways to stop the pass without Bosa, but with Bosa they will be able to create havoc.

We will need to see how the run defense reacts without some run stuffers in the middle. Jatavis Brown has stepped up huge in the last few games and we will need him to keep playing at a high level in order for this defense to continue it’s success. This weekend will be a big test. Expect the Chargers to make some game changing plays on defense. Looking forward to a strip sack from Melvin and another pick from the Jackboyz.

This weekend we will get the attention from everyone else. Sunday night we will be shining.
