The Los Angeles Chargers should keep both Caleb Sturgis and Michael Badgley for the rest of the season.

At the moment, the Los Angeles Chargers should stick with 2 kickers. I hate that we need to use a roster spot for another kicker and it is going to hurt the depth somewhere on the roster, but I would rather keep a kicker that is accurate in the field goal game and also have a kicker that can kick the ball deep.

We don’t have options that can do both for us at the moment and it is sad. Caleb Sturgis was brought in this offseason to be the kicker. He has struggled with his accuracy and the team even dropped their punter in order to help, but Sturgis still has had struggles on extra points.

Sturgis suffered an injury and gave an opportunity to Michael Badgley. All Badgley has done is make every field goal attempt that he has tried with the Chargers. That is something that we have not seen in a minute and it is something that we need at the moment.

The place that he struggles is on the kickoffs. I wouldn’t want to trust our coverage units and we do have Tyreek Hill in our division. We don’t need to give him any extra opportunities to bring a kick back on us.

Against the Tennessee Titans, the Chargers gave up a ton of field position because of the short kickoffs. We don’t need to give up free yards on those things, especially when we have someone that is capable of rocking them deep and out of the end zone.

I hate that it has come to this situation, but the team needs to keep both guys and then look for someone to compete for the spot next season.
