How are the Los Angeles Chargers going to fix the safety position. Jahleel Addae seems 2 steps too late on every play.

By now, it is not a secret that Jahleel Addae has to be dropped to the bench. He is constantly out of place on the field and opposing offenses are abusing him. The team needs to start working in someone else at the safety spot. There might be a learning curve with the new safety back there, but we know Addae is not the answer.

In hindsight, we should have brought Tre Boston back to play the free safety spot and allow Derwin James to roam around the line of scrimmage. If I were Tom Telesco, I would see what the Arizona Cardinals would want as compensation in order to bring him back. He would be a nice compliment to James in the secondary and already knows our system. Call them now!

Addae doesn’t have the speed or the instincts to play center field for the Chargers. Gus Bradley still keeps trotting him out there and it is painfully obvious that he is struggling. If the Chargers do not bring someone in to help fill the role, the Chargers need to start looking in house to fill the safety spot.

Desmond King could be the best option at safety and that would get another playmaker on the field more. Plus we would have a safety combination of King-James.

King is a good nickel corner though and putting him at safety means that someone else would need to step up. I would rather find a way to get the playmaker on the field as much as possible and let him get to the football.

If King moved to safety, that could get Adrian Phillips on the field more. Phillips always seems to make plays when he is on the field and he should see more action. Maybe he can get some time at free safety. He is smart and knows this system better than any other safety on this roster. Let him get on the field and use his instincts at the position.

I don’t have the best scouting reports on the other safeties on the roster, but I do know that Addae is not the answer at the position. Something needs to change and if the starter is not sitting on the bench, then they need to make a move.

Even when Joey gets back, there are issues at this position! Who is the answer?
