There has been a lot of Senior Bowl talk on Bolt BEat lately, so had to bring it back to the mother land and talk more about the Chargers current roster. Which player are you expecting to break out in 2014?

There are a number of things that are going to happen in the offseason, but this would be an early look at some possible break out performers that are on the roster.

Ryan Mathews broke out in 2013. He had a huge year for the Chargers and showed that he can carry the team on his back in the running game. We had been waiting on that for a while from him. Melvin Ingram had a bit of a breakout party in his return from his injury. We didn’t see that type of impact from Melvin in his rookie season.

Who will breakout in 2014? And the nominees are…

Ladarius Green

Is this finally his time? Will he get the opportunity to get on the field often and become the threat that we all think that he can be? It seems that the time is right for Green to take the torch from Antonio Gates and run with it. Gates is running out of steam and could give more time to the future star.

Manti Te’o

Te’o didn’t have the greatest rookie year. He was just a solid contributor on the roster that was learning his way through the league. He had some bad moments, but we could see his progression and see him getting better throughout the year. Will he become a playmaker in 2014?

Jahleel Addae

Is Addae ready to take on the starting safety spot full time? He may have some cotmpetition coming in from the draft. He stepped in nicely at the end of the season and a full offseason can only make him better.

Vincent Brown

There were some high hopes for Vincent Brown before he went down with an ankle injury. He came back last season and was able to play in all games, but he didn’t have the impact that we had hoped from him. Will he be able to bounce back?

Kendall Reyes

We were hoping that Reyes would break out in 2013 with his first year as a starter, but he disappeared a little bit. With a possible new nose tackle and some added talent to the defensive side of the ball, Reyes might be ready to make an impact this season.
