I keep looking at Malcom Floyd as an addition to the roster. Just looking along the roster, there are a few additions to the team that were not here during the playoff run. Dwight Freeney will be returning from injury. Malcom Floyd will be returning from injury. Stevie Williams will be returning from injury. Brandon Taylor? Larry English? We don’t know what those last 3 players can provide to the roster, but we know that they have shown the potential in the past to produce.

Larry English was a first round draft pick that was selected for his abilities to get after the quarterback, His injuries have been his downfall, but when he has had the opportunity to play, he has shown the ability to get after the quarterback, He has to impress the coaching staff this training camp with players like Dwight Freeney, Jarret Johnson, Melvin Ingram and Jeremiah Attaochu already expected to make the roster.

Brandon Taylor was taken in the 3rd round of the draft and was ready to take the starting safety job next to Eric Weddle before he went down with an injury. Could this be the time that he finally contributes to the roster? This could be his chance to play.

Stevie Williams will be another player on the roster that can help in the secondary. He isn’t the biggest corner, and we just drafted another small corner, but he showed that he can make plays on the field during the preseason. He still needs to show his worth during the regular season and still has to prove a lot of things.

Those 3 players could help the defense a ton if they can play up to that potential. Another player that can make an impact, that has proven his ability to make plays, is Dwight Freeney. He will be back for another season and he has shown the ability to put consistent pressure on quarterbacks. He will be back and hopefully will have a full season to chase after quarterbacks.

Malcom Floyd is back for another season and his presence on the field should give the team some balance in the passing game. Philip Rivers can look to hit Floyd down the field and he can take some of the pressure off of Keenan Allen for his sophomore season.

The wounded warriors have a lot to prove in their return. If they are able to provide some help on the roster, we should have some nice depth around the roster. SHOULD…
