This is my favorite time of the year, draft season baby. While the combine starts this Saturday at 6 am pt, the Chargers are in a tough spot at pick 25. Now there are multiple prospects us Charger fans wouldn’t mind being selected in the 1st round, but pre-combine edition I have the Chargers selecting WR Odell Beckham Jr. I know people are going to bash on me with this pick, but hear me out then bash away. LOL.

I have the Chargers selecting Beckham Jr. because I think CBs Justin Gilbert and Darqueze Dennard will both be gone before we pick because there are a lot of teams in need of a corner. I also think DT Louis Nix won’t make it past the Packers so count him out too. Then there is a couple of OLBs in Kyle Van Noy and Dee Ford worth considering, but I think 25 is too high for both unless one or both step up big at the combine then they’ll be the pick. I would mock a OT, but when King Dunlap was on the field he was great and Mike Harris is a decent backup. Also our O-line coach is awesome at coaching players; see what happens when our O-line gives Rivers some time to throw.

Now for the reason of the pick. I think the Chargers won’t resign Danario Alexander because he just had another surgery for his ACL and we don’t know when he’ll be back. It’s sad because he has so much potential and is fairly young, but if you can’t stay healthy then you can’t play. Another reason is because Eddie Royal is due $6 million and he’s a cap causality who will probably be cut and he fell off the earth when Keenan Allen emerged has the #1 WR. Also Malcolm Floyd I think will retire with his neck issue which is sad because he’s an awesome player who got a freak injury that’s potentially career ending. He can still play, but he’s got to think about life after football because one big hit to the neck area and he may never walk again and I don’t care who you are no sport is worth becoming paralyzed forever. The Chargers will then move Vincent Brown to the slot and give him one more shot and now the Chargers need a WR opposite of Allen who compliments him well. Our GM Tom Telesco said the Chargers lack a deep threat who can be that home run guy every time he touches the ball. Enter Odell Beckham Jr. out of LSU who is exactly that. You guys might be hesitant at first, but watch him at the combine because he’s going to kill it.

Now like I said earlier, this can all change after the combine, FA, and pro days. Here’s a video too his highlights from college.
