The NFL schedule was released yesterday and it brought a little excitement for the fans. The Chargers get 3 prime time games this year and get to close out the opening week with a game against the Houston Texans.

Let’s break down the schedule and assign wins and losses to a few of these games. Of course it is way too early to predict, but that is what we do. We don’t even know who we are drafting yet.

Anyway, on to the predictions and breakdown

Mon., Sept. 9 vs HOUSTON, LOSS
Chargers first chance to show to the world that they have a new thing rolling and they have to face off against JJ Watt and that defense. Who the heck is going to block Watt and the rest of the guys that Wade Phillips throws at Philip. Do we even have an offensive line yet?

The defense will have to slow down local boy Arian Foster from tearing us a new one. Who will be on the defense to stop him?

Sun., Sept. 15 at Philadelphia, WIN
On the road for the Eagles first home game under Chip Kelly. The Chargers won’t have much tape to work with on the new Kelly offense installed with Mike Vick and crew, but they won’t have much tape on the new Chargers offense either.

Think that the Chargers will pull this game off on the road.

Sun., Sept. 22 at Tennessee, WIN
When was the last time the Titans beat us? I think they were called the Oilers than and played in Houston. Keeping that streak alive. Still don’t think their QB situation is any good and Chris Johnson might still be running in his early season don’t care form.

Sun., Sept. 29 vs DALLAS, WIN
Chargers face the kabillionaire Tony Romo and Dez Bryant at home. The crowd should be big at the Q for this game with all kinds of Cowboy fans and Chargers fans. These games always come down to the wire and usually the best head coach wins. I will give McCoy the benefit of the doubt on this one. If it were Norv though…

Sun., Oct. 6 at Oakland, WIN
Still don’t think that the Oakland Raiders are good enough to get out of the AFC West cellar. It will be tougher playing in Oakland, but still thinkg we pull off the win over Flynn and the boys.

Mon., Oct. 14 vs INDIANAPOLIS, WIN
Are we going to LOSE?! Maybe I just say we win every single game on the schedule! I think Andrew Luck will struggle a little bit with a new coordinator. I also think the Chargers offense will be able to put up more points than the Colts.

Sun., Oct. 20 at Jacksonville, WIN
Still winning. If this happens, we would be 6-and-1! I must be losing my mind! All these games seem very winnable to me. If we do lose to the Jags, we all must wear mustaches to work for a week.

BYE WEEK
Good time for a break

Sun., Nov. 3 at Washington, LOSS
The Chargers will have to try and stop RGII and Alfred Morris. We don’t do too well trying to slow down those mobile quarterbacks.

Sun., Nov. 10 vs DENVER, LOSS
First chance at trying to beat on Peyton Manning, but he finds beats us again. That offense in Denver looks strong.

Sun., Nov. 17 at Miami*, WIN
The Dolphins still suck. I don’t know what they do over there. Who is their quarterback? Their Runningback? Receivers? That team is a mess.

Sun., Nov. 24 at Kansas City*, WIN
I still don’t believe that the Chiefs are going to be that good. I don’t love Alex Smith as their quarterback and think we will still be putting heat to the Broncos. Might be the homer in me.

Sun., Dec. 1 vs CINCINNATI*, LOSS
AJ Green beating us up all over again. He is so tough and the Bengals are scrappy. This will be a tough matchup on the road.

Sun., Dec. 8 vs N.Y. GIANTS*, LOSS
We get both Manning’s this season? SIGH. And we lose to the little brother as well? The Giants are a mystery team all the time. Who knows what you are going to get. Super Bowl winner or missing the playoffs? This could be their time again to rise.

Thurs., Dec. 12 at Denver, LOSS
Dang, I picked us to lose to Manning all 3 times! I am going to absolutely hate the Manning’s after this season. If my projections are anywhere close to truth, this game could be a fight for the top spot in the AFC West.

Sun., Dec. 22 vs OAKLAND*, WIN
Another game against the Oakland to help us close out the playoff push. It sounds great to me.

Sun., Dec. 29 vs KANSAS CITY*, WIN
This game could be for a playoff spot. We need the win and Mike McCoy pulls it off. PLAYOFFS!!!

I must be smoking rocks or something, but I have us pulling out 10 wins and I don’t even know who the heck is on our roster. I must be feeling pretty good today! 10 wins! Playoffs! Our schedule is cake, but I am sure other teams look at the Chargers on their schedule and think the same thing.

Does anyone else have to fly across country as many times as us or are we getting shafted here? First game for a new coach on MNF? Then fly across the states to see Chip Kellys new offense? Oh my……Can Warmack block Watt? We might have to draft him just so he doesnt get 7 sacks in his first game lol

    Just a crazy guess I’m thinking 8-8 or 9-7

thats what happens when we are that far on the left coast. the raiders might have to deal with it also because they have to face the same divisions as we do

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

So many great watches on this schedule though, tons of playmakers/stars/ new offenses it’s going to be at least really fun to watch. I really hope Ingram becomes a crazy sack machine, were facing some good Qb’s and need to really put the pressure on them this year.

the 2 games that you have wins that im nervous about are is the home game against dallas and the away game at miami.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i was nervous about the dallas game and the philly game.

      • boltingindiego

ya the philly game is interesting but i figured were playing them early in the season and with them installing a new O and D. I figured they will have to play some games before they become comfortable in their new systems.

Via the NFL Nation blog on ESPN:

“The Philadelphia Eagles’ first home game of the 2013 regular season will be on Sept. 15 against the San Diego Chargers. Regardless of the outcome, recent history tells us this is extremely good news for the Chargers. In each of the past four seasons, the visiting team in the Eagles’ home opener has gone on to win the Super Bowl. You don’t even have to win the game. The Ravens lost to the Eagles in Philadelphia’s home opener last year and still couldn’t be stopped in January or February. It’s fate. May as well start designing the Chargers’ rings now. ”

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! It’s our year baby!

I can see 10 wins this year, as long as we don’t have our starting LT on the roster right now.

    Maybe 6-8 wins, no more.

  • Tom Spalsbury

I say we beat Denver. McCoy won’t be there for Peyton this season.

  • arnie

Yup i can see ten wins. if no other reason than norv is not calling the plays. Let’s be truthful, winning the AFC west means beating the out the broncos. Not that i think it’s impossible, just difficult. the broncos didn’t lose a lot, instead they added. The chiefs and the raiders have new QB’s. again. The adjustment the Chargers are facing, a new coaching staff mostly on offense and a new offensive system. But that’s about it.

like denver we still have the same QB, with mostly the same guys to throw the ball too. i know what your thinking when i said that. Who i’m referring to is DX, VBrown, Gates, and even Floyd. Rivers is familiar with these guys an vice versa. Adding Woodhead and TE John Philips will help in protection an they can catch. Royal can be an asset, when healthy. Thanks to the new S&C staff, that could be possible. But the O-line blah, blah, blah…gaither is gone, greene will probably not be back an they lost Vasquez. TT has added depth, and HC McCoy has brought in a new O-Line coach, to improve protection, and the running game. You may not like them, but the 3 OL can play, “Right Now”, which is what PR really needs.

Big picture time. The Chargers won 7 games last season with norv as the HC/play-caller, a terrible O-line and no running game. Why? We had Phillip Rivers. And we still do. We got a HC that had Kyle Orton leading the league in passing. Adjusted his system, and made Tim Tebow look awesome. Then took a broke neck QB, in manning, to a 13-3 record, and the playoffs. Also we virtually still have the same core Defense intact, same DC, and TT added depth to the back field, front seven, and still hasn’t gotten to the Draft yet.

And nobody’s optimistic about more that 7 wins?

like i’ve said, McCoy alone could add 3 wins….
