I mentioned earlier this offseason that my family and friends have been doing “football sheets” for longer than I can remember. In fact, my dad has been doing these football sheets since before I was born.
The goal is as simple as the rules. The goal is to win as many individual weeks to be crowned champion and the rules are pick the team you think will win and hope that you get it right.
There is no point spread. All you do is pick the team that you believe will win each game. With the exception of Monday Night. On Monday Nights you will choose the scores of each team and the total number of points will be a factor as well. This is done in the obvious need of a tie-breaker.
The person with the highest number of weeks won by the end of the regular season wins the year, so to speak. In the event that we have a tie going into the playoffs, we create a playoff system which includes the entire postseason and points guessed for the Superbowl as well.
Do you think you have what it takes to beat either myself or my dad? For those of you that have met me or followed my articles, you know that confidence and NFL knowledge are two of my strong points. I feel comfortable stating that most of you don’t have a chance. But, I would like to strongly encourage you to jump in and give it a shot.
In our family and friends pool it is solely rewarded with bragging rights at the end of the season. This pool, however, will be a $10.00 buy-in and there will be only one winner. Just like the NFL and my “football sheet” pool, there is truly only one team/person that can win.
I will post the sheets of myself and my dad every week. Others will be responsible for emailing their picks to boogapeters@yahoo.com. You have until 10 minutes before the start of the first game for that week to submit your picks. You must send me your $10.00 no later than the completion of the second week of the regular season. You can do so by sending it via paypal to my email address, boogapeters@yahoo.com.
I am taking a total of 25-30 players. Meaning the payout to the winner will be between $250 to $300.00. Should be a lot of fun. I hope that you have the guts to jump in and try to win. I’d especially like to see some of the loudmouth punks that claim to know a thing or two, literally, about the NFL join in to compete.
We’ll see. I look forward to hearing from all of you. In the event that an exorbitant amount of people are interested in joining, I will do a live article that will include Chargers trivia questions that will lock in you spot for the competition.
