5 teams that could actually sign Chargers legend Philip Rivers in 2023

2. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are in a similar position as the Washington Commanders. After giving Marcus Mariota a shout last season, the team is going into the 2023 season with young quarterback Desmond Ridder as the signal-caller.
There seems to be more belief in Ridder than there is in Howell but it is still safe to say that this is a big risk for the Falcons. With the team already investing in a young quarterback, it seems unlikely that Atlanta would go out and draft one of the top QBs in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Just like Washington, there is potential on this Atlanta roster. They were better than they had any right to be last season and there are some really fun weapons on offense for Philip Rivers to throw to. Better yet, they are in the wide-open NFC South, where Rivers could stay close to home, stay away from the Chargers and compete to win the division.
If the Falcons were in a loaded division like the AFC West then there would be no point for Rivers to join as they could just use this season as a transitional year. But with a very real chance to win the division and a head coach on the hot seat, Atlanta makes sense as a team to take a risk on Rivers.
Atlanta is only a five-hour drive from Fairhope, Alabama, which makes it all the more interesting for Rivers in 2023.
