28. Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers
I wasn't a huge fan of Trey Lance coming out of the 2021 NFL Draft and he still has to show something in the NFL before we rank him any higher. The small snippets we did get of Lance last season weren't great and it will be interesting to see how Kyle Shanahan maximizes the second-year QB.
27. Zach Wilson, New York Jets
Zach Wilson showed a bit more than Trey Lance did last season because he actually got to play. However, there are undeniably holes in Wilson's game that he is going to have to overcome in year two. With the draft the New York Jets had, Wilson is probably the best candidate to climb the most spots this season.
26. Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons
Both Lance and Wilson have much higher ceilings than Marcus Mariota because they are young. Both Lance and Wilson could climb into the top half of quarterbacks if they both have great years in 2022. Mariota, meanwhile, would not climb outside the 20s. That being said, if I needed to pick a QB to win me just one game, I'd pick Mariota over Lance and Wilson.
25. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff is a fine quarterback and in quarterback-deprived eras, he could have ranked much higher as an average game-manager. However, in today's age with so much talent at the position, it is hard to rank someone who doesn't really win you many games while also losing you some games higher than 25th.
