NFL MVP tracker: 2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season and that has, in turn, led many to pick Josh Allen as their MVP favorite as well. While Allen undoubtedly had a spectacular game to kickstart the 2022 season, Mahomes did have a better game and deserves the top spot.

Allen wound up completing 26 of 31 passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 31-10 win over the LA Rams. Allen also led the Bills in rushing yards in Week 1 as he carried the ball 10 times for 56 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground as well.

Unlike Mahomes, Allen is not going to have as big of a test in Week 2. The Bills play the Tennessee Titans, who despite being the no. 1 seed last season, do not appear to be a very good football team this season while also having a bad defense.

Buffalo then plays four really good defenses in a five-week stretch as they play Miami, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Green Bay. Kansas City is also in that stretch of games, so it will be interesting to see how that impacts the MVP race.

It is important to note that Allen is the only quarterback in the top three on the MVP tracker that turned the ball over in Week 1. If Allen is continually throwing 2+ picks a game that will obviously take him out of contention.
