The LA Chargers are tied for first place in the AFC West with a 3-1 record but have a leg up on the rest of the competition as they have a 2-0 record in the division. While it is early, every game counts and the more the Chargers can pad their record the better.

Of course, having the division foes lose is also going to help the Chargers. Both the Broncos and Raiders are a surprise 3-1 on the season while the Chiefs are 2-2 and are primed to get hot. Any loss they can get early in the season helps the Bolts.

The Chargers could gain sole possession of first place this week with a win. Let's get into our Week 5 AFC West predictions.

LA Chargers 27, Cleveland Browns 23

This is an interesting game as the Cleveland Browns have a talented roster that certainly has its advantages in certain key areas over the Chargers. However, the Chargers roster has its advantages as well with one of the main ones being the quarterback position.

Baker Mayfield is a good quarterback but he is not as good as Justin Herbert. Add in the fact that Mayfield is dealing with a partially torn labrum and it is safe to say that the Bolts have a comfortable advantage behind center.

The big x-factor is if the Chargers can limit the running attack for Cleveland at all. The Bolts do not have a great run defense and the Browns are one of the best running teams in the league.

This game is likely going to come down to the wire with the last drive of the game deciding the outcome. With less than two minutes remaining, Justin Herbert will get the ball down 23-20 and while a field goal will tie it, Brandon Staley will be aggressive yet again and go for the win: locking it up for the Bolts.
