Ryan Langan, LS
Ryan Langan was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft and it is not all that surprising that the Chargers signed him for long-snapping depth as he participated in the Senior Bowl.
Now, there is something to be said about Langan potentially being a long-term option for the Chargers with starter Cole Mazza being in the last year of his contract. That being said, it is not like the long snapper position is a hard one to find and they can find someone next offseason as well.
What seems to hurt Langan's chances of making the roster is the fact that the team just signed veteran long snapper, and former Pro Bowler, Matt Overton. The timing of the signing is weird and that makes me think that there is something about Langan that the team is not too fond of.
Perhaps he can be a practice squad option as the team looks to develop him more to be the long-term option after Mazza. However, with both Mazza and Overton now on the roster, the undrafted rookie is obviously the odd man out.
The long snapper position is a really easy position to trim as you are trimming the fat of a roster, so it makes sense to cut him at this point in time.
