Chris Okoye, NT
The LA Chargers signed Chris Okoye in early August and quite frankly, it looks like the signing may have simply been to get more roster depth for the preseason games. With only one preseason game left after the 49ers game, I would not be shocked to see the Chargers cut ties with Okoye.
The defensive tackle position is already several deep and there is another future cut candidate that can play the majority of the snaps in Week 3 of the preseason to keep the starters healthy.
Willie Yarbary is that other defensive tackle who is unlikely to make the final roster but certainly should make it farther than Okoye. The proof is all in the pudding as well as Yarbary actually played against the Rams while Okoye did not play much.
Yarbary played 21 defensive snaps, accounting for 38% of the overall defensive snaps. Meanwhile, Okoye played just four defensive snaps, the fewest of any defensive player who actually played in the game.
He will be there for depth against the 49ers and then should be cut with only one more preseason game following the 49ers game.
