The LA Chargers have one more preseason game remaining against the Seattle Seahawks with several roster battles to decide. There is a litany of roster spot battles that the coaching staff is going to have to evaluate but there are three significant ones that are catching the eye of Charger fans.
That is the backup quarterback battle between Chase Daniel and Easton Stick, the starting edge rushing battle between Uchenna Nwosu and Kyler Fackrell and the kicking battle between Tristan Vizcaino and Michael Badgley.
The final preseason game is going to go a long way in deciding these battles. Before that game kicks off, though, here are my predictions for who wins those battles.
Tristan Vizcaino wins the LA Chargers kicker job
This might be more optimism than anything as Michael Badgley has lost all trust with Charger fans. Badgley was so bad last season and his leg strength leaves so much to be desired.
Vizcaino has not even been that great during camp and the preseason, either. He definitely has been slightly better than Badgley, but the fact that this is still a battle tells you all you need to know.
Vizcaino and Badgley will rotate attempting kicks and quite frankly I would not mind at all if the Chargers just forget about touchdowns and kick field goals from various points on the field on various downs.
They obviously won't do that, but it would be interesting to see them take that approach to get a definitive answer on who the starting kicker should be.
Because of the bad taste left in the team's mouth from Badgley's poor season and Vizcaino being slightly better thus far, it is likely safe to assume that the newcomer wins the job and Badgley's tenure with the Chargers is over.
Maybe he will follow in Josh Lambo and Younghoe Koo's footsteps and become one of the best kickers in the league after leaving LA.
