2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

The statistical comparison between Josh Allen and Justin Herbert is actually quite remarkable. There is very little separating the two quarterbacks over the last two seasons, showcasing just how good both of these guys are.

Over the last two seasons, Herbert has 9,350 passing yards, 69 touchdowns, 25 interceptions and has a completion percentage of 66.2%. Allen has 8,951 passing yards, 73 touchdowns, 25 interceptions and a 66.1% completion rate.

They have the exact same adjusted yards per attempt (7.6), the exact same yards per completion (11.1), near-identical passer ratings (97.9 for Herbert, 99.2 for Allen). Herbert's interception rate is 0.1% lower, while Allen's touchdown rate is 0.6% higher.

Herbert attempts more passes, which is why his yards are up, but overall, these guys are practically dead-even. The only thing swinging it in Allen's favor (for now) is how dangerous he is with his legs. Justin Herbert can use his legs and we have seen it before but Allen has a higher ceiling in that area.

1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

With four straight AFC Championship Games and two Super Bowl berths, it is hard to not rank Patrick Mahomes first on this list. However, with some of the careless turnovers he made last season and how poorly he played in the AFC Championship Game, I do think we see Mahomes fall to third on this list at the end of 2022 with Herbert and Allen usurping him.

Regardless, Mahomes is still an MVP candidate and is obviously good enough to carry his team to a Super Bowl. In Mahomes, Allen and Herbert we are looking at the three favorites for the MVP award and it is going to be a real joy to watch the trio battle it out all season long.

MUST-READ: Why the Chargers should be legitimate Super Bowl favorites

Hopefully, the LA Chargers can get the best of the Kansas City Chiefs and Justin Herbert can take home some hardware.
