The LA Chargers take on the LA Rams in the first week of the preseason on Saturday in front of a split fanbase at SoFi Stadium. This is an exciting time as this is the first taste of Charger football in the Brandon Staley era.
While the preseason typically features very little starting players, there are going to be a lot of big-name Chargers who sit out of the preseason action. Justin Herbert is not going to play a single preseason game, joining the lines of Derwin James, Jared Cook, Bryan Bulaga, Corey Linsley and others.
That being said, there is still plenty to take away from the preseason as certain position battles will be determined in these three games.
Here are four bold predictions for the LA Chargers in preseason Week 1 vs. the LA Rams:
1. Nasir Adderley records an interception
Nasir Adderley was one of the starters that we named with the most to prove in this game and he is going to capitalize on the moment with a takeaway in this game.
We have all seen the potential that Adderley has and he was really good in the preseason back in 2019. Adderley has not had the best situations thus far in his career and with a new defensive-minded head coach, the second-round ball hawk is destined to see an improvement.
With no James, I bet we see Adderley move around the defense and play both deep safety and in the slot in the time he is on the field. In that time he will pick off a Rams quarterback, whoever it might be at that particular time.
