With the 48th overall pick in this LA Chargers mock draft, the Bolts select Travis Jones, IDL, Connecticut

Travis Jones is becoming a popular name in these LA Chargers mock drafts and for good reason. The Bolts have a need at interior defensive lineman and Jones is a mauler that would absolutely help the team and improve the run defense in LA.

There are some that want to see the Bolts take Jordan Davis in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. I get the appeal of Davis as he is so good against the run but the Chargers are going to have more pressing needs with the 17th overall pick. Jones in the second round is a perfect place to take a defensive tackle.

I did mention already that the Chargers would use some of the spending saved by not signing Williams to sign interior defensive line help. The position is still a need for the Chargers if that is the case. Even if the Bolts sign someone like Sebastian Joseph-Day AND re-sign Justin Jones, they need to really add depth to the position and set it up for future success by drafting an early-round defensive tackle.

Jones may be a bit redundant with Joseph-Day as he is a nose tackle so perhaps he is the target is the team signs someone like Akiem Hicks (who I do not love) to be the 3-tech. Regardless, this team needs depth in the interior and Jones is a great option.
