Justin Herbert's Week 9 game grade: A+
We have higher standards for Justin Herbert and we typically ding him more for mistakes that he makes and it is harder for him to get an A than it is for other quarterbacks. That being said, it is impossible to give Herbert anything other than the best grade possible: an A+.
Justin Herbert checked all of the boxes in this game. He played virtually mistake free, came up in all of the big moments and scored all of the touchdowns that the Chargers scored against the Eagles.
If we really wanted to be nitpicky we could bring up the two failed fourth-down attempts and pin that on the quarterback but it wasn't really Herbert's fault, plus the team won. If this was a three-point loss that is a potential conversation. Not in a win.
Herbert completed 32 of 38 passes for 356 yards with two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. Herbert threw for 350 yards with three touchdowns and played mistake free football. If that is not the definition of an A+ then I do not know what is.
Herbert fell out of the MVP discussion after the back-to-back losses but with the Buffalo Bills' loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kyler Murray's injury, Herbert might just be the best dark horse in the entire league to win the MVP.
This might be the last time to get great odds on Herbert, who truly did play like an MVP in this game.
