Justin Herbert Week 2 game grade: B-
Justin Herbert had a decent game and was one that was good enough to win the game, as evident by the fact that the game was decided at the last second on a long field goal.
However, Herbert certainly did not have his best game and we have to grade on a curve with him after his stellar rookie season and great Week 1 showing. It was not a bad game by any means, but a lot of other quarterbacks might get a B instead of a B-.
Herbert finished the game completing 31 of 41 passes for 338 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. One interception was a mixture of a bad throw/decision by Herbert and Trevon Diggs making a fantastic play on the football to jump the route.
The second interception was the result of Herbert trying to thread the needle in the endzone to Keenan Allen only for Allen to slip and fall, leaving the interception wide open on the table for the taking.
While Herbert had some big plays and did have other players get negated by penalty, the fact of the matter is that this team has to be more efficient near the endzone. Being able to drive down the field does not matter if you cannot put it in and three touchdowns in the first two games certainly is a letdown.
