1. Chandler Jones
The LA Chargers could be in the market for an edge rusher if they need to improve/replace Uchenna Nwosu and Chandler Jones might seem to be the best option for teams to pursue. Jones certainly has the big-name factor and has been one of the best edge rushers in the entire league in recent years.
Jones will be 32 during the season but that will not stop him from getting paid this offseason. Spotrac estimates that Jones will get a three-year deal that is worth $14.5 million per season. While the Chargers should not be in the business of being cheap this offseason, that deal simply is not worth it.
That is a lot of money to give a player who is undoubtedly past his prime and is likely only going to regress as the seasons go on. Jones is not as good of an edge rusher as he once was and he is absolutely terrible against the run, which does not help the Bolts' cause at all.
His overall numbers might seem okay from last season. Jones recorded 11 sacks and according to PFF, recorded 47 total quarterback pressures. Not bad, although his pressure numbers are not that much higher than Nwosu's.
The problem is that five of Jones's 11 sacks and seven of his 47 pressures came in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, who were dealing with COVID-19 issues at the time. He had a spectacular start to the season and was really pretty mediocre for the rest of 2021.
