2. The LA Chargers take a running back with their second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft

Not many fans want to see the LA Chargers use an early draft pick on a running back, which is why this would be a surprise. Tom Telesco is 0-2 in picking late-round running backs over the last two years and there is an argument to be had that taking a running back with the second pick would not be good "positional value".

However, the running back depth behind Austin Ekeler is non-existent and after going 0-2 in the late rounds, it would not be that surprising if the Chargers picked a running back earlier than people expect, especially if someone the team really likes falls to them.

The Bolts have not re-signed Justin Jackson yet and have not made any moves at the running back position. Of course, any future move could dispel this theory, but the Chargers might have a draft plan at the position and that is why they are not using any of the free-agent budget at running back.

This could mean that the Chargers get someone like Notre Dame's Kyren Williams in the third round. However, if the Bolts combine the two surprising moves on this list thus far they could trade down into the second round, pick up either an extra second-round pick or earlier third-round pick, and take a running back then.
