Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

It's becoming clearer and clearer to me every single day that Trevor Penning is the guy the Bolts are going to take at #17, though it may not be the most glamorous pick.

Bryan Bulaga is gone and the right side of the offensive line is currently being manned down by two guys that, respectably and objectively, are not starters at this particular moment in time.

I would certainly expect Ickey Ekwonu, Evan Neal, and Charles Cross to be off the board by this time, though I also believe an argument could be made that Penning has some more things to like about him than Cross does.

That being said, I think the fit of Penning at the right tackle position here is too good to pass up if indeed he is there at #17 for them.

It's not my favorite position group for this Chargers team to attack for their first pick, but objectively it may be the smartest considering the horror show that was Week 18 of this past season.

I've said this a couple of times already on Bolt Beat. I just cannot stomach Justin Herbert being overly pressured on his throwing side in a big game ever again like he was in that last Raiders game.

Penning brings a lot of power and force to the position. I see him fitting into this Chargers line like a glove from day one.
