With the 17th pick in this LA Chargers mock draft, the Bolts select Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

Trent McDuffie is a prospect that we highlighted in previous Chargers mock drafts on Bolt Beat before the Chargers signed J.C. Jackson. After that signing, I expected that Stingley would be the only first-round corner taken and he never fell in the mock draft simulations (but he could fall in real life).

With this new information about Davis I would not rule out taking McDuffie with the 17th overall pick. I personally would rather see the team take a right tackle with the first pick, but with how valuable cornerback is, this pick would not be surprising in the slightest.

The only thing working against McDuffie as an NFL prospect is his size but that should be fine if he comes in as the team's CB2. McDuffie has the athleticism to succeed at the next level, has the coverage ability to thrive in Brandon Staley's scheme and has the motor to make big plays and make decisions on the fly.

McDuffie's ceiling could be limited by his size but on the contrary, he should have an extremely high floor in the league. At the very worst, McDuffie will be a serviceable CB2 in the league and in the future he could develop into being one-half of one of the best cornerback duos in the entire league next to J.C. Jackson.
