Chargers mock draft, round 2: Adetomiwa Adebawore, EDGE, Northwestern

It would be shocking if the Chargers did not take an edge rusher in the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, even after the team restructured both Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. The Chargers are going to have to make some cuts next offseason and with his age and dead-cap hit, Mack makes the most sense.

Plus, it is bad football to ignore the defensive line in the draft like the Chargers have in years past. The team has drafted only two edge rushers since taking Joey Bosa in Uchenna Nwosu and Chris Rumph. Teams like the Philadelphia Eagles take an edge rusher every single draft.

It would benefit the Chargers to get Mack's potential replacement in the building in 2023 as a rotational defender. In this system, the rookie would not be asked to do too much and could learn from two of the best in the sport before becoming a starter.

Adetomiwa Adebawore is an extremely intriguing prospect that lit the world on fire during the 2023 NFL Combine. Adebawore ran a mind-bending 4.54 40-yard dash at the combine and was absolutely one of the biggest winners in Indy.

Adebawore is more than just a physical specimen. While there are some raw areas of his game and he might not be suited to be a 4-3 defensive end, Adebawore has all the potential in the world to blossom into a highly-producitve outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense.
