DeAndre Carter

DeAndre Carter probably has to be the biggest winner on the offensive side of the ball of Chargers training camp thus far. His success has stemmed past the scrimmage on Sunday as he has been an extremely pleasant surprise to watch in this offense.

Carter replaced Andre Roberts, who was the first above-average return man the Chargers had in quite some time. The problem with Roberts, though, was the fact that he could not contribute really anything on the offensive side of the ball.

That is not the case for Carter. On top of showing out on special teams in practice, Carter has showcased his offensive ability in camp thus far, particularly in the red zone. That production only grew in this scrimmage as Carter turned heads with strong play.

Brandon Staley had nothing but fantastic things to say about Carter after the scrimmage, detailing how he has already gained the trust of those throwing him the ball. Carter truly is a revelation for the Chargers and he very well could end up being the WR4 during the regular season.

Obviously, the Bolts are going to want to keep him fresh for special teams duty, especially considering how much talent the Chargers have on the offensive side of the football. That being said, it is great to know that the team has another Swiss Army Knife that it can throw at opposing defenses in various spots.
