LA Chargers training camp has been eventful thus far with the most exciting practice on Sunday. The Chargers held a scrimmage in front of a packed house of fans that got the first look of something similar to game action ahead of the 2022 season.
We were already familiar with a lot of the storylines heading into the training camp scrimmage. Most of these storylines were reinforced with the scrimmage, while others are still up in the air as the Bolts prepare for preseason action.
Some players took this opportunity to stand out and strengthen their spot on the roster. Here are those players.
The biggest winners from the Chargers training camp scrimmage:
We have been touting 2022 as the year of Josh Palmer for quite some time here at Bolt Beat and this scrimmage only solidified the chances of him having a breakout sophomore season. Palmer was consistently targeted by Justin Herbert, hauling in as many receptions as Mike Williams and more than Keenan Allen through two possessions.
Heading into camp it was believed that Palmer had to fight for the WR3 spot on the roster and now before even playing a preseason game it is clear that he is the frontrunner for the position. Palmer is slated to get much more playing time in 2022 and his production should see a jump.
The biggest loser of the receiver room is Jalen Guyton. Guyton was slated to compete for the WR3 spot on the roster and instead looks like he is going to be the WR5 because of another winner from the scrimmage.
