2. Isaiah Spiller

The LA Chargers selected Isaiah Spiller in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft for a very specific reason. Los Angeles' running back room was extremely thin behind Austin Ekeler and there was not a single back in the building that was RB2-caliber.

Thus, the Chargers needed to take a running back earlier than most people would have expected and took the best back on the board in Spiller. While Spiller's explosiveness in college was not the most impressive, his ability to be a threat in the passing and run game was.

Spiller has showcased that dynamism in his first week at the pro level as he has gotten first-team reps at running back and has made the most of them. While a lot can change, thus far, it seems like the rookie is already far ahead of the other backs in the locker room not named Austin Ekeler.

It will be really exciting to see Spiller get some preseason action before the season underway. He will get very limited looks in the preseason as the Chargers are all about keeping their guys fresh and not risking injury in the preseason. But as a rookie, he will definitely see snaps and not get the same treatment that Ekeler does.
