3. Joshua Kelley

This is a bittersweet inclusion to this list. On one hand, we are highlighting a player that has really taken a step up this season to prove all of the doubters (myself included) wrong. Many people were writing Joshua Kelley off before the season and were not even including him in pre-training camp roster predictions.

Then the reports started coming in about how good Kelley was looking at camp before fans got to see it themselves in open practice. Suddenly, Kelley went from someone who was seemingly on the roster bubble to cementing the RB2 job.

Sony Michel then came in and derailed this climb for Kelley shortly but the team finally came to its senses and gave Kelley a true RB2 workload. It paid off against the Cleveland Browns, as Kelley had arguably the best game of his young career.

This is where we get to the bitter part. Kelley unfortunately suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos and was put on the IR. The Chargers will be without Kelley for a few more weeks and the running game is really going to take a hit because of it.

Michel simply is not as good as Kelley and does not offer the same explosiveness that Kelley does. Fourth-round pick Isaiah Spiller hasn't even won over the coaching staff, getting just one offensive carry this season for negative yardage.

Kelley may not have the same kind of second half because of the injury so the Chargers are going to need another back to step up in a similar manner.
