2022 NFL mock draft, picks 5-8:

5. Atlanta Falcons (trade) select Malik Willis, QB, Liberty

I am planting my flag on Malik Willis being the best quarterback in this draft class and so are the Atlanta Falcons with this trade-up. The Falcons want to jump the Carolina Panthers while also making sure that the Seattle Seahawks do not jump them for a quarterback. Atlanta has extra mid-round draft capital to trade as the Giants will pick up the extra draft capital to move down three spots.

6. Carolina Panthers select Ikem Ekwonu, OT, North Carolina State

Some people have Ikem Ekwonu as the best offensive player in this draft over Evan Neal and for me, it is really close. I lean towards Neal but I think both guys are going to be elite franchise tackles for the next decade. After missing out on Willis, the Panthers skip out on reaching for Kenny Pickett and instead bolster the offensive line with Ikem Ekwonu.

7. New York Giants select Travon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

There is some buzz about Travon Walker going in the top five of the 2022 NFL Draft. If the New York Giants do not trade down from the fifth overall pick then I truly do believe that is who they will take at five. However, they get extra draft capital and get the same guy in this mock draft in the first of two back-to-back picks.

8. New York Giants select Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

There has been some buzz about Kyle Hamilton potentially falling out of the top 10 because of positional value as well as his not-so-great measurements at the NFL Combine and his pro day. We even pondered if he could fall all the way to the Chargers at 17. Hamilton is an elite prospect and after picking up extra draft capital by moving down, the Giants should have no problem taking him with the eighth overall pick to fill their safety hole.
