Jamal Davis, EDGE

Jamal Davis has looked fantastic for the LA Chargers in training camp and the preseason and the team is going to have to cross its fingers that he does not get claimed and can be signed to the practice squad. Injuries naturally happen in the NFL and having someone like Davis to fill in would be fantastic for the team.

The Chargers are not very deep at EDGE, either. However, the team has two elite players in Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack as well as a blossoming second-year player in Chris Rumph. Kyle Van Noy is listed as a linebacker, but he will provide some depth at the position because of his versatility.

You could absolutely make the case for Davis making the roster and he probably should. However, once again, because of the decisions at other positions the Chargers are going to have to sacrifice.

Based on how the roster is shaping up, the team is probably going to have to decide between keeping a promising edge rusher or a promising member of the secondary. With how Brandon Staley's defense operates, and how good Bosa and Mack are, picking depth in the secondary seems more likely.

That being said, there is still a talented player in the secondary that could miss the cut.
