2. Jack Jones, CB

This is more of a direct comparison as the Chargers could have had a more talented defensive back instead of JT Woods. While they do not play the same position, the Chargers could have gotten a lot out of Jack Jones with the versatile nature of the defense.

Jones was drafted to the New England Patriots and has been better thus far this season than J.C. Jackson has been for the Chargers. Jones would have been a nice player to stand in while Jackson was hurt and once he returned, would have been an overqualified nickel and dime backer for the team to rely on.

Jones already has two interceptions and one touchdown on the season and has an early case to be Defensive Rookie of the Year. The former Arizona State standout was always viewed as a talented prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft, but fell for reasons outside of football.

In 2018 Jones was arrested for commercial burglary, which ultimately led to his draft stock falling. Belichick and the Patriots have gotten their hands on him and as a result, Jones has the highest coverage grade of any rookie on Pro Football Focus with a 92.0 grade.

That is not just the best among rookies, but it is the best in the entire NFL thus far this season.
