3. Quarterback

Justin Herbert won't play in this game but there is still a lot to take away from the quarterback position in this game. Chase Daniel and Easton Stick will end up getting snaps at quarterback as the two are battling for the backup quarterback job this season.

Last year the Chargers ran with three quarterbacks on the roster for whatever reason. Having three quarterbacks on the depth chart is simply a waste of a roster space, especially with all of the talent that is on the bubble as the Chargers decide to make cuts.

It would be much more beneficial to the Chargers to have a WR6 that can step up and make an impact or even depth at another position than it would be to have a third quarterback. The COVID-19 rules and restrictions are not as serious as they were last season, so if that was the only reason then the Bolts should move on from this thinking.

Daniel had the inherent advantage for the job as he was re-signed this past offseason and has the veteran presence that helps a young quarterback. However, if the Chargers are strictly going on who is the better option then Stick could win the job.

Stick has not even looked that great in camp or in the first preseason game but he has looked better than Daniel and that is all that matters. However, since it is not that big of a difference, the Bolts could just end up favoring the veteran.

It will be interesting to see what route the Chargers take after seeing how these two quarterbacks fare against the Cowboys on Saturday.
