The LA Chargers had a chance to take control of the AFC West on Thursday Night Football but fell just short against the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. If the Chargers were to win the overtime coin toss then we might be talking about winning the AFC West. Instead, the Chargers have to stay alive in the crowded AFC Wild Card picture.

At 8-6 with an easy schedule to close out the season, the Bolts should be able to make the playoffs. However, they no longer completely control their own destiny and now need some help. Heck, there is even a chance that the Chargers could fall out of a playoff spot altogether in Week 15. There might not be any Charger football this weekend, but there are still games to root for.

Week 15 outcomes that help the LA Chargers playoff chances:

New England Patriots over Indianapolis Colts

The New England Patriots take on the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday and there is a chance that you might be reading this with the game already underway. Simply put, it helps the LA Chargers if the Patriots get the best of Carson Wentz and the Colts.

While nobody wants to see the Patriots be the no. 1 seed in the AFC, I would absolutely choose for the Pats to be the top seed in the conference if it could guarantee the Chargers at least make the playoffs. New England winning this game could be big for the wild-card implications.

The Colts are currently 7-6 and losing to the Pats maintains the one-game cushion that the Chargers have over the Colts. With another tough game against the Arizona Cardinals next week, the Colts very well could lose two in a row, only increasing the Chargers' chances.
