4. Bobby Slowik

Bobby Slowik is far from a household name and would prompt Google searches from a large portion of the fanbase if the Chargers were to bring him in as the OC. While he might not be a big name, he could still be a sneaky hire by Brandon Staley considering where he is coming from.

As mentioned, the Chargers may want to poach the Kyle Shanahan tree and that is exactly what this would be. Slowik is currently the passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers as he has coached under Shanahan for quite some time in the league.

Slowik, who is 35, comes from that McVay-Shanahan NFL bubble as he first joined the Washington Commanders as a defensive assistant in 2011. Slowik was let go by Washington after Mike Shanahan was fired in 2013 and he took a break from coaching, spending time with Pro Football Focus.

Kyle Shanahan hired Slowik to his defensive staff when he took over the 49ers job in 2017. Slowik moved to the offensive side of the ball in 2019, where he has been since. LaFleur would probably be the no. 1 choice between the two Shanahan disciples but Slowik could be the fallback option if LA cannot land the bigger names on this list.
