With the 79th pick in this LA Chargers mock draft, the Bolts select Greg Dulcich, TE, UCLA
Before the Chargers traded for Khalil Mack I thought it was going to be a foregone conclusion that they took a tight end in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The tight end market was much more expensive than expected and picking one in the third round would give the team a quality option that allowed them to make two other picks first.
Without a trade down, I would be a bit shocked to see the Chargers take a tight end in the third round but it all depends on what else the team can accomplish in free agency. If the Bolts find a starting right tackle to sign then Dulcich very well could be the pick at 79.
The Chargers met with Dulcich at the NFL Combine, where he really impressed with his athleticism. His overall numbers were not the most impressive at UCLA but he showcases the athleticism and sure hands to be the receiving tight end the Bolts need to replace Jared Cook.
The Chargers have an elite young, blocking tight end in Tre' McKitty and saw improvements in Donald Parham's game as a blocker as well. That makes it much easier to take someone like Dulcich, who may struggle initially as a blocker but can still be a threat in the passing game.
