With the 38th pick in this LA Chargers mock draft, the Bolts select Daniel Faalele, RT, Minnesota
At this point in the offseason, it would be shocking if the LA Chargers brought in a starting right tackle in free agency. Most of the quality options are no longer on the market with the biggest name remaining being Riley Reiff.
Reiff does have connections to the coaching staff and has versatility in playing on both sides of the line, which is something that the Bolts really value. However, he is going to be 34 in December and is coming off an injury with the Bengals last season.
If Reiff's perceived value plummets then he could be an option but he was projected by Pro Football Focus to get a two-year, $14 million contract. I find it hard-pressed to see the Chargers signing an older right tackle coming off of an injury after being burnt so badly by Bryan Bulaga.
Instead, the Chargers use the 38th overall pick on Daniel Faalele, who is a really exciting right tackle prospect who could come in right away and start for the Bolts. Faalele is a bit raw as a prospect but there is a lot to love and even as he takes his bumps and bruises as a pro he will be much better than Storm Norton was for the Bolts last season.
